Relay swimmers fifth on final day World Cup, Netherlands peace on two medals | NOW
The Dutch relay swimmers failed to take a medal in the 4×100 meter medley on Saturday on the final day of the World Championships in Budapest, despite a national record. The Netherlands is a difficult tournament with two slices.
Marrit Steenbergen, Maaike de Waard, Tes Schouten and Kira Toussaint clocked the fifth time in the final in the Duna Arena (3.57.24), the foursome was therefore slightly faster than the previous Dutch record (3.53.28), dating in 2012 was swum.
The gold went to the American women in 3.53.78 and Australia (3.54.25) and Canada (3.55.01) also took the podium. The Netherlands had qualified second for the final battle. Only the Australian swimmers were faster in the series.

Sjöström swims to 20th World Cup medal
Sarah Sjöström made her twentieth World Cup medal on the final day. The 28-year-old Swedish, gold in the 50-meter freestyle in a time of 2398 seconds. The silver went to the Polish Katarzyna Wasick (24.18) and the American Meg Harris (24.38) made bronze. Sjöström expects the title in the 50 meter butterfly on Friday.
Ruta Meilutytee the world title in the 50 meter breaststroke. The 25-year-old Lithuanian beat the Italian favorite Benedetta Pilato with 0.1 seconds difference. Meilutytely announced ompic gold in the 100-meter breaststroke ten years ago and also became world champion at that distance in 2013.
