EBU reconfirms decision Song Contest 2023, Brussels does not say no – Songfestival.be
Although both a Ukrainian and British politician and public figures are calling for the Eurovision Song Contest to take place in Ukraine in 2023, EBU stands by the decision not to do so. The umbrella organization of public broadcasters has announced this in a new statement. Meanwhile also Brussels and RTBF not to say no against a possible organization next year.
The latter left the Minister of Media and Culture for Wallonia to know, although she says that first all one first meeting before Belgium is a candidate. ‘At the moment neither the city of Brussels nor I have had any contact with EBU. If that is the case, it is required that the application, regions and RTBF and VRT are mobilized.’ According to the British newspaper The Guardian, the European Union would like a festival in Brussels, we have already written about that. When it comes to that, Brussels seems to be interested.
Door Professionals Decisions
Nothing about a possible candidacy of Brussels EBU itself. However, it writes in a new pronunciation that it ‘fully understand the disappointment about not being able to organize the Song Contest 2023 in Ukraine. The decision was made by EBU’s responsibility to ensure that the conditions safe are for everyone who cooperates and participates in the event. Planning should start in the host country. At least 10,000 people are accredited to work on the Eurovision Song Contest and 30,000 fans are expected in the host country. Their safety is our primary concern. it is of the utmost importance that decisions about such a complex TV set are taken by professionals and not politicized become. The rules say the event can be in case of force majeure†
EBU takes into account the possibility of air raids† Subsequently, EBU has also sought the advice of independent experts, who say that the risk of conflict is very high. “Not a single major international concert is planned in Ukraine in 2023 either.”
Find a suitable location
The statement also reads: ‘With regard to the possibility of organizing the competition on a border location close to a neighboring country, do not meet the specifications of the designed sites and the lack of the established infrastructure does not meet the specifications of the ESC. All of this adds to the EBU’s overall assessment that hosting guidelines such as implementation in the rules of the Eurovision Song Contest are not met in terms of security and guarantees. Having taken all this in decisions, the EBU with a heavy heart make the decision to move the event to another country. It will find the follow-up venue for next year’s Eurovision Song Contest. We are happy to discuss all these issues with our Ukrainian member UA:PBC.” That difficult location seems in the United Kingdom with whom EBU is currently in talks about a possible organization next year.
