Nft of charity for Ukraine, the exhibition in Florence

Sugar Mizzy June 24, 2022

The Russian-Ukrainian conflict is told through 90 snapshots by photographer Niccolò Celesti, of which three will become non-fungible tokens (NFT) for charity purposes, and a five-minute documentary video. It is the exhibition ‘The spring of Kiev: NFT for Ukraine’ which opens today in the Palazzo Vecchio, in the Sala d’Arme, and will be open for free until June 30 (10 am-6pm).

The event was born from the Innov Art initiative of Trefoloni Associati, an integrated communication agency active for over fifteen years, with the co-promotion of the Municipality of Florence. The proceeds from the sale of the NFT works will be donated to the “Florence for Kiev” fundraiser (https://dona.cri.it/firenzeemergenzaucraina/~mia-donazione).

Celesti’s photographs tell civilian and military people, glimpses of life and scenery through a unique, alternative and close to everyday reality view around the battle of Kiev, between March and April 2022. “At the beginning the intention was to not to follow the main events of the war, but to try to live it in the shoes of the Ukrainians – explains Celesti -. Above all, trying to get news from civilians and volunteers, looking for different angles with respect to the titles, images, videos that the bastions of information offer globally ”.

The result is a breathless journey through the difficulties and reduction of war, in search of a glimmer of humanity amidst the rubble and hostilities around the capital, where the author even risked his life, targeted by a sniper. in the suburb of Irpin. The images tell in five chapters with about 20 snapshots each the Escape, the War, the Soldiers, the Bunkers and the Portraits collected by Celesti. In addition, another three will be sold in the form of non-fungible tokens (Nft) made by Innov Art, using the blockchain.

To purchase them, simply connect to the dedicated e-commerce page on Innovart.it and make the transaction with a conventional payment management system (eg credit card, PayPal), or with your own written wallet. The delivery of the address of a wallet can take place by specifying the address of a wallet given, then a payment confirmation email indicating the timing for the payment operation.

“We are pleased to host an innovative initiative in the Sala d’Arme that combines the rawness of the initiative, masterfully documented in Celesti’s shots, with the new art form of NFT. – declares the mayor Dario Nardella -. This exhibition helps us to keep attention on a war that is no longer on the front page but which is no less bloody and devastating ”.

“The solidarity of Florence in favor of Ukraine does not stop, which has been hit for several months by a war whose end we do not foresee – underlines the councilor for welfare Sara Funaro -. We hope that even with this exhibition it will be possible to raise funds through the initiative we launched with the Italian Red Cross – Committee of Florence to give concrete help to the population ”.

“For some time we have wanted to go back to dealing with Art and Culture, to resume a path that in the past already traveled”, explain Dante Trefoloni founder and director of Trefoloni Associati and

Ginevra Agnitti, coordinator of Innov Art. “The encounter with Celesti’s work happened almost by chance, browsing on social media. It was the spark to start again, inspired by the social transmitted by these shots that tell the horror of war. We have chosen to put into practice the experience developed by the agency on blockchain issues in recent years, using our skills for a project useful for the population affected by the conflict, a choice that seemed obligatory for the first Innov Art exhibition. “.

Thanks to Farmacie Fiorentine A.Fa.M. Florence and Artvise for their sensitivity to the issue.
