Jail sentence for man who squeezed the buttock of an enforcer at Amsterdam Central Station
A 39-year-old man without a place of residence or residence has been sentenced to four weeks in prison for assaulting an enforcer at Amsterdam Central Station. In addition to the payment, which he has already served, the man must also pay a fee of 150 euros.
The female enforcer was severely pinched in the buttock by a passer-by on March 15 of this year at an entrance to the station. The assault was caught on camera. But during the hearing, the man said he was doing the pinching at the request of a friend. That friend would have told him that the enforcer was his girlfriend. He was allowed to assault her and would get money for it.
The court does not agree with this story. Not only because the man only tells this story during the hearing, but also because there are no leads to support this story. Even if it is true, it does not justify his actions towards the victim, the judge finds. The 39-year-old man already had a criminal record, which is a disadvantage in this sentence.
The judge ruled that the man was guilty of sexual assault, because his act exceeded the ‘boundaries of what is befitting’. “The suspect has shown no respect for the victim’s right to self-determination and has made a claim on her rights,” the court said. In addition, it also has a request for compensation.
