Benoit Michelena : “Les Girondins de Bordeaux, cela fait toujours rêver. L’histoire récente, les jeunes joueurs la côtoie, la vivent, mais le Bordeaux qu’ils connaissent, c’est le grand Bordeaux”
About ARL, Benoit MichelenaDirector of the Pôle Espoir de Talence, and son of Bernard, former goalkeeper of the Girondins de Bordeaux, assured that the club with the scapular always made young people dream today.
“The Girondins de Bordeaux always make you dream. Recent history, young players rub shoulders with it, live it, but the Bordeaux they know is the great Bordeaux, the one that inspires dreams, the one that has a recognized training center in France. And then, I’m always careful not to confuse what’s happening in Ligue 1 with what’s happening at the academy, because they’re two different worlds. That’s why it’s very difficult to move from a lower level to Ligue 1 ”.
Young players have been used sparingly in recent years…
“To become a player who holds the road in Ligue 1, you have to go through several stages, and often we forget too quickly that the step is high. For the market to be less high, it would still be necessary to be able effectively, on a few meetings, like meetings of the Coupe de France, to make them harden. We propelled some of them overnight against Toulouse last year. We put some in Brest then this year, we saw the result. How will young people who are in construction, in post-training – because some are still 18 years old, and there is a world between 18 and 23 years old – do what professionals do not do themselves? So the biggest clubs, when we incorporate a young player, we put him with executives. It is the executives that surround this young player, who sometimes allow him to accompany him in the discovery of the high level”.
