MESTRE. Attempted robbery with aggression this evening, Friday 24 June, at 7.45 pm, in the central Piazza Mercato in Marghera. A 57-year-old was targeted on his way home from work aboard his Vespa. At one point the man found a bicycle thrown on the ground in the middle of the road.
He stopped to check what had happened, he feared there had been an accident. As soon as he got off the bike, two North Africans came out from around a corner and attacked him from behind, snatching the backpack he had with him. After a first moment of bewilderment, the man reacted by taking back the backpack. The result was a struggle during which the attacked person remedied several blows. Eventually he managed to get his backpack back and punched the attackers with a few punches. He managed to escape and at that point the two North Africans gave up.
The man called the police and then went to the emergency room of the Angelo’s hospital.
