a place finally found to pay tribute to former mayor Bernard Bosson
On May 13, 2017, Bernard Bosson passed away. And since then, many residents of Annecy have demanded that a place in the city be named after him in order to pay homage to him. Well Named. Son of Charles Bosson career (mayor of Annecy for 21 years and senator for a decade), Bernard Bosson himself experienced an illustrious policy. He was also mayor of the city (from 1983 to 2007) but also to delegate (from 1988 to 1993 and from 1995 to 2007), regional and departmental councillor, Secretary of State in charge of local authorities (in 1986), Minister Delegate for European Affairs (from 1986 to 1988) and Minister for Equipment, transport and tourism (from 1993 to 1995).
His record and his achievements, during these various mandates, are colossal, especially locally. Still in love with Annecy even after his retirement from political life, he had led the fight against the construction of a congress center on the Albigny peninsula until his last days.
Moreover, many observers thought that a place located near the shores of his beloved lake would be favored by decision-makers when saluting his memory. Renaming the hospital, which he won to have erected in Epagny-Metz-Tessy, was also one of the most insistent rumours. Nothing will happen.
Monday, June 27, during the next meeting of the Annecy municipal council, the municipality will give Square de l’Évêché the name of Square Bernard Bosson. A heartfelt choice given that this square, located at the intersection of rue de l’Annexion and rue Royale, was right under the windows of his apartment in Annecy.
