Water crisis, in San Marino price increases and bans are triggered, with hefty fines
Anyone who is caught three times watering gardens will pay 1000 euros

In San Marino, measures are taken to reduce water consumption, due to the persistent drought. From June 27, 2022 it will be forbidden to water orchards, lawns and gardens, squares, stairs and private roads, to fill in swimming pools, to wash water in cisterns and wells. It will also be forbidden to wash the vehicles, unless the activity is carried out at the service stations. San Marino has thus decided to declare a state of emergency.
Sanctions will apply, in case of: for the consumer for domestic use 150 euros which become 500 for the second infringement and 1000 euros for the following ones. For a large consumer for domestic use or a consumer not for domestic use, the first penalty will be 500 euros, the second 1000 euros, 2000 for the following ones.
During the water emergency period, the tariff currently envisaged for consumption of domestic users above 30 ³ / month is increased by € 20.00 for each m³ of water used exceeding 30 m³.
In the same period of water emergency, the Autonomous State Authority for Public Services may proceed, by coercion, to reduce the supply of water to consumers for different uses. In the event that the consumer does not comply with the warning to reduce consumption, an administrative fine of 10,000 euros (first penalty), 2000 (second), 40000 (for the subsequent ones) is imposed on the offender.
