Borokov Borokov takes over Café Kiebooms: no entrance ticket, but you can buy an LP (Antwerp)
Down The Rabbit Hole, the Amsterdam Paradiso or the Depot in Leuven: the list of possible solutions Borokov Borokov was already allowed to perform is starting to lengthen. But next week the Antwerp music group, which is gradually gaining a cult following with its absurd lyrics on extremely danceable beats, will play a home match. In Café Kiebooms the trio celebrates the release of their long-awaited LP. Anyone who will attend that performance will have to purchase that LP immediately.
Boris Van den Eynden, Arne Omloop and Noah Melis: put these three Antwerp residents on a stage and together they become Borokov Borokov. Under that heading they serve their audience an infectious cocktail of genres such as cabaret, punk and hi-nrg. They went into duet with Bazart frontman Mathieu Terryn, among others, and they make you dance to songs with titles such as ‘Escalator and Forklifts’ or ‘If only I had a little more holiday’.
Three months ago, the official release of their latest brain fruit took place: an album that was called ‘The Wrong Error’. Even waiting for the coordination.LP enthusiasts But now it is here. And Borokov Borokov celebrates that delay in style, in Café Kiebooms on De Coninckplein.
But Borokov Borokov should not be allowed to attach himself to that, no small ‘but’. Those who want to attend that performance, namely no entrance to pay, but you have to buy their LP. Or another record from their music label Rotkat Records may not be such a fan of what pops out of their speakers.
Info: Borokov Borokov: Tuesday 28 June at 8 pm, Café Kiebooms.
