50 years IBK: Exciting anniversary week opened on Peter-Kaiser-Platz
Vaduz (ots) – The Principality of Liechtenstein is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the International Lake Constance Conference (IBK) with many colorful events. For this purpose, a converted shipping container was set up on Peter-Kaiser-Platz, which was used as a projection screen for IBK history and as an event platform. The anniversary week was officially opened on Tuesday, June 21, 2022.
As part of the opening ceremony, Prime Minister Daniel Risch gave his words of welcome to the official guests from the Lake Constance region at the symbolic IBK container on Peter-Kaiser-Platz. In addition to HSH Hereditary Prince Alois von und zu Liechtenstein, State Parliament President Albert Frick, State Parliament Vice-President Gunilla Marxer-Kranz and other members of the High State Parliament were also present.
In his words of welcome, Daniel Risch emphasized that the states and cantons of the Lake Constance region benefit from their respective membership in the IBK: “Within the IBK we can tackle the major issues and changes of our time. The IBK is a common political umbrella for the region, under which we create common solutions for the current demographic, transport or economic policy challenges”. This is done constructively in commissions, working groups and other specialist bodies.
After his words of welcome, the head of government handed over the stage to the Vaduz cabaret artist Mathias Ospelt and the spoken word poet Richi Küttel from St. Gallen. The former winners of the IBK Culture Promotion Prize came together for a half-hour cross-border dialogue entitled “The Lake Constance Region: An Observation”. They offered the guests at the vernissage an amusing insight into the cross-border cultural activities in the Lake Constance region.
Informative and entertaining
In the course of the week, a specially produced anniversary film will be shown five times in the Old Cinema Vaduz with free admission: The BodenseeRaumGestalter production. Made by Louis Vogt on behalf of the government of the Principality of Liechtenstein, the focus of the film is on people from the IBK area, in a double function: on the one hand as storytellers and therefore as listeners to the other actors, which inspires and motivates them. The film can be viewed this week on the following dates on Landeskanal TV, each at 7:00 p.m.: Wednesday, June 22, 2022, Thursday, June 23, 2022, Friday, June 24, 2022 and Saturday, June 25, 2022.
On Wednesday, June 22, 2022, students from the University of Liechtenstein will produce a radio show at Peter-Kaiser-Platz and then stream it on the Internet. This is a format of a cross-faculty elective that students created this summer semester. A broadcast is planned for the Nobel Laureate Conference in Lindau, which this year will bring together chemistry Nobel Laureates and young scientists from all over the world. The program will be made available to listen to on the online channels of the University of Liechtenstein.
The nationwide youth information center aha – tips & information for young people is represented with two activities during the anniversary week under the motto “aha goes Städtle”. On Wednesday afternoon the “Summer.Sun.Discovery Trip” takes place. The aha hands-on activities for teenagers and young adults are all about travel: in a country quiz, participants can deepen their knowledge of Europe and win great prizes. There is also free ice cream as travel provisions, a photo box and other promotions.
In the sign of energy
Thursday afternoon, June 23, 2022, will focus on “How much technology does a sustainable house need?” in the sign of energy. Andreas Gstöhl from the Office for the Environment and Liechtenstein’s representative in the IBK’s Environment Commission, together with Jürg Senn from the energy department and Liechtenstein’s representative in the IBK’s Energy/Climate Platform, will present an exciting program including a moderated panel discussion. The challenges that low-tech buildings face will be shown as the course progresses.
On Thursday evening, short films for young people will be shown in the old cinema in Vaduz with “ALPINALE on tour”. Entry is free. Visitors can expect an excellent program of audience favorites from the international ALPINALE short film festival in Bludenz with topics relevant to young people – handpicked by the youth information center aha – tips & information for young people. “We have selected five 20- to 30-minute short films. The five stories are about young people who push their limits,” explains aha-Co-Managing Director Johannes Rinderer, who is looking forward to many guests.
