Ticket prices in Portugal: football turned to television and “in slow death”
A literal translation of fan engagement is something like “fan engagement”. The expression appeared in the title of the statement made by the Premier League, on 9 June, announcing the good news for those who embody stadiums and fill football with meaning. Further down it read that the clubs “were unanimous in agreeing with the “maintenance of the current £30 limit” with no price charged on tickets for visiting fans. In short, the European championship that generates the most money in television revenue and the one with the most people watching live games has meant that, for nine seasons, the price to pay to accompany a team that relies on someone else’s stadium is around € 35.
The measure was drawn up in 2015-2016 and will last the measure 2024-2025 in the league that this season recorded an average attendance of 39,632 fans per game, according to the count of the website Transfermarkt. In the stadiums of the 20 clubs that will compete in the Premier League, capacities range from 17,250 at Brentford’s humble Community Stadium to 74,879 at Old Trafford, home of Manchester United. “Everyone recognizes the crucial importance of supporters in generating the best possible atmosphere at matches”, and so does the Premier League.
