Balkan Championship: First in medals and points for Greece
The national track and field team was first in the medals and overall standings at the Balkan Championships in Craiova.
The presence of the national track and field team in the Balkan Championship, which took place in Craiova, Romania, was particularly efficient. The national team took first place both in the table of medals with nine gold, six silver and nine bronze, as well as in the scoreboard with 224.5 points.

With the wind being almost three meters opposite, Rafaela Spanoudaki had to make a strong finish in the final meters in order to win the gold medal in the 200 meters. The athlete, although she entered quite far back in the final straight, covered the difference she had from Fotopoulou and on the thread finished first with 23.55 (-2.7), against 23.62 of her Cypriot teammate.
The women’s quartet of the big baton consisting in turn of Despina Mourta, Marita Argyrou, Anna Kiafa and Adriana Ferra easily reached the victory with 3.34.29.
Christos added another consistent appearance to his assets Kotitsas, which was second in the 800 m with 1.48.36. The athlete of Pizza Parkharidou runs the distance twice this year at 1.48.13, a performance very close to his individual 1.48.07 and his goal remains an odds below 1.48.00
Dimitris Tsitsos won the silver medal in javelin throwing with 77.51 m, a performance that is his record this year and the third performance of his career. The athlete of Thomas Kyriazis will chase this year to improve his individual 78.22 m from 2021.
George Stamoulis climbed to the third step of the podium in the 3,000 m steeplechase with 9: 00.39, about 20 days from 8: 48.79, which occurred in the Netherlands. The athlete is in good shape this year and seems able to chase even faster times.
Panagiotis also won a medal Trivyzas, who was second in the 200m with 21.05 and showed in quite good condition.
