Letter to the editor – thoughts of solidarity are damaged
An adjustment of the AHV pension would be necessary, on which most agree, because the original idea of the AHV – a life without financial hardships in retirement age – no longer fulfills them. If the DpL had wanted to help the seniors, then an initiative to adapt the law on the AHV would have been the right instrument. Exemption from the franchise brings very few benefits, because only those who have to make use of medical services in the corresponding year, which nobody wishes, wishes, and many do not need this allowance. Like AHV, health insurance is dependent on the solidarity of generations. By favoring one group, this system WILL be challenged and corrupted. Especially when the liberation benefits a group that is proven to be among the wealthiest. The high health care costs are increasingly a problem for a large part of the population that WILL NOT be solved with the franchise exemption for pensioners. Premium reductions and supplementary benefits should depend on the income and financial situation. The tax authorities could provide the most competent information on this and decide on the benefits in the sense of a “negative tax”. The exemption from franchises helps the few and cell phones they don’t need – and it damages the idea of solidarity.
