In Luxembourg: The southern swimming pools and the Haute-Sûre lake overflowed
Published
LUXEMBOURG – The police are calling on residents not to go to the Haute-Sûre lake, which was stormed on this hot day, like the swimming pools in the south of the Grand Duchy.
A hot day that falls on a Saturday. Inevitably, residents are looking for a bit of freshness, while the thermometer has largely crossed the 30°C mark and the south of the country is on red alert for high heat. Logical consequence: swimming pools and lakes have been stormed, even a little too much, and the police are on their toes.
The authorities are thus calling on the population to avoid the Haute-Sûre lake. Indeed, “all the car parks in the artificial lake region have been completely occupied since the beginning of the afternoon”. Also, most of the beaches are crowded and the traffic in the villages around the body of water is experiencing heavy traffic.
Swimming pools closed in the south
The road between Bonnel and Insenborn even had to be closed to traffic. Police say they are patrolling the area to “deal with heavy traffic and illegal parking.” She adds: “Please absolutely avoid the area”.
Further south, the swimming pools were taken over by residents dreaming of a bit of freshness. “All the pools in the south of the country are overcrowded,” police say, adding that they are all closed to new swimmers. This is the case in Dudelange, Differdange, Esch-sur-Alzette or at the Thermes de Strassen.
