Nine people who volunteer in their free time received the Volunteer of the Year award on Tuesday, June 14. These are individuals who, within associations and non-profit organizations, are involved in the social and health fields, in culture, sports, environmental protection or in education.
Volunteers were nominated by associations and non-profits from their ranks
They help in every way. Some for many years, others only for a while. But they all have one thing in common. Without claiming a fee, they decided to get involved in helping others. Some help seniors, others care for children, others regularly come to those who need it. And they were nominated for the Volunteer of the Year award in Prague 10 by the associations or non-profit organizations in which they work.
“We all know how hard it is to find some free time in these hectic times. I respect those who take care of him differently and I thank them from the bottom of my heart for their activity. ” said not only the awarded deputy mayor David Kašpar (VLASTA / STAN).
The last two years have shown the importance of volunteering
In the end, the evaluation committee selected several winners from the proposals, who, through their volunteering, have contributed to the running of the city district over the last year. The award ceremony took place in the Vršovice chateau. “We have clearly seen the power of volunteering during the coronavirus pandemic, and we are currently watching it live in connection with the migration crisis. However, for us, a volunteer is not just a person who will help when the system is not enough. This is a citizen whose activity we support the system. We motivate our residents to take an interest in our surroundings and our neighbors, we communicate with them regularly and show them that life in the Ten can be changed from below, “ says Deputy Mayor Kaspar.
