The challenge of the month of August’ announced by the calendar!
This Friday, June 17 was an important day for Ligue 1 clubs. The LFP today published the calendars for each of the teams for the upcoming 2022/2023 season. AS Monaco was therefore also able to discover the way in which its year in the league would not be built, and the least we can say is that it is off to a strong start for the Monegasques.
The month of August is likely to be complicated for the club of the principality. At the time of the revelations of the calendar, everyone with their eyes riveted on the posters of the first day of the championship. For ASM, it’s off to a strong start, with a first day traveling to La Meinau to face RC Strasbourg on August 7.

However, this will only be the beginning for the princely club. When 2nd dayPhilippe Clément’s men will welcome Rennes at the Stade Louis II (August 14). Stade Rennais will be succeeded by RC Lens, another big revelation of the championship last season. AS Monaco will therefore receive the Sang et Or on August 21, before flying to the champion of France. 4th day away against Paris Saint-Germain therefore, with from the first month surely the most complicated Ligue 1 match on the calendar for ASM. On the 5th day, the Trojans will move to the Rock, still in the same month of August since the match will take place on the 31st, 3 days only after the trip to the Parc des Princes.
The cumulative ASM in August
By finishing third in Ligue 1 like last season, Monaco will have to qualify in the Champions League play-offs. To 5 complicated Ligue 1 days is therefore added the 3rd preliminary round (August 2-3 and 9), then dams (August 16-17 and 23-24) from the Champions League. As a reminder, last summer the ASM had stumbled during the play-offs on the Ukrainians of Shakhtar Donetskafter eliminating Sparta Prague in the previous round. Bad memories therefore for Monegasques who are now waiting for the draws scheduled for July 18 and August 2..
AS Monaco will therefore have a lot to do at the start of the season and we can understand the dissatisfaction of Monegasque supporters. Between qualification for the Champions League and a good start in the league, the club of the principality will have to rely on its entire workforce to avoid sinking from the start..
