However, even Lainer could not prevent the defeat against the Danes. Because: Jonas Wind (23) from VfL Wolfsburg scored the opening goal for Denmark after just 21 minutes. Andreas Skov Olsen (22) extended this in the 37th minute.
Although the ÖFB team was much more stable in the second half, the team didn’t know how to improve on the offensive, so that in the end the Danes deserved a win.
As a result of the defeat, the Austrians are currently in third place in Group A of the UEFA Nations League with four points behind Croatia (7 points) and Denmark (9 points). Defending champions France are fourth with just two points behind Austria.
The next games in the Nations League will not take place until September. On September 21st, Austria will then play in France. The summer break has now started for Lainer and Wolf, which ended on June 26 (11 a.m.) with the start of training at Borussia Park. Then the two Gladbach players will meet their new coach Daniel Farke (45) for the first time.
