EU, the professor from Pisa Alessio Cavicchi in the Advisory Board of the Hess project
Professor Alessio Cavicchi, full professor of Agribusiness and Rural Development at the Department of Agricultural, Food and Agro-Environmental Sciences of the University of Pisa, has been appointed by the Joint Research Center and the Directorate General for Education and Culture of the European Commission (DG EAC) on the Advisory Board of the Higher Education for Smart Specialization (HESS) initiative. The HESS project aims to involve and support public administrations (governments and regions) and European universities in regional development processes and in the creation of regional innovation ecosystems. The HESS advisory is made up of seven external experts selected from across the EU who serve as academics or practitioners in the fields of education, vocational training and territorial development, and includes the OECD and EURASHE (European Association of Institutions in the higher education) as observers. The group of experts aims to reflect on the results of some initiatives such as cohesion policy, the smart specialization strategy, Erasmus +, the European Universities and the activities of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), identifying the activities and the most relevant policy provisions. The other members of the group are Elvira Uyarra (University of Manchester), John Goddard (Newcastle University), Ellen Hazelkorn (TU Dublin and BH Associates), Henning Kroll (Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research) Adina Fodor (University Babes Bolyai – Cluji ) and Mikkel Trym (International Consultant), together with observers John Edwards (Eurashe) and Andrea Rosalinde Hofer (OECD).
