We are always happy when young Austrian footballers look for a way abroad. Also because we then follow them weekly as part of our young talent check and report on their careers. From the coming season, one of these boys will be Christopher Olivier from Vorarlberg. The 16-year-old scored six goals in eight games for the AKA Vorarlberg U16 team last season and has now signed for VfB Stuttgart, where he is scheduled for the U17s and has a contract until 2025.

The second youngster who went abroad this week is Marco Rottensteiner. The young man from Salzburg is regarded as an intelligent, hard-working eight and is moving from Red Bull Salzburg’s U18s to Eintracht Frankfurt’s youth team. Rottensteiner made 19 appearances for Salzburg’s U18s last season and also featured once in the UEFA Youth League, in which Salzburg famously advanced to the final. In Frankfurt, the 17-year-old will initially receive a one-year contract.
Dejan Stojanovic
TW, 28, AUT | FC Ingolstadt – > Jahn Regensburg

The U21 national player David Nemeth will be released by FSV Mainz 05. The central defender spent the 2020/21 season on a successful loan at SK Sturm Graz – starting next season he will play for FC St. Pauli. Most recently, Sturm had also made intensive efforts to get the 21-year-old on a second loan, but Nemeth opted for the second German Bundesliga. Nemeth’s contract in Mainz ran until 2024, but since he only played seven competitive games for the Bundesliga side in the past season, St.Pauli came on the scene and paid 1.5 million euros for the Burgenland player.
Dominik Starkl
RA, 28, AUT | Admira Wacker Mödling – > SKU Amstetten
After leaving Admira, Dominik Starkl moves down one floor. The 28-year-old winger moves to Amstetten on a free transfer. Starkl’s last years were characterized more by knowledge than by success. In February 2020, the Lower Austrian suffered a cruciate ligament rupture and was out longer last season due to an ankle injury. In 15 Bundesliga games in 2021/22 he didn’t score a single point and he was only on the pitch for a total of 650 minutes. Overall, Starkl scored 20 goals and 21 assists in 165 games for Admira. At Amstetten he is the second new signing for the 2022/23 season after stripping defender Rosenbichler.
