Prague – In the church of St. Anežka Česká in Prague in Spořilov, the last farewell to the actor Josef Abrhám, who died on May 16 at the age of 82, will take place this afternoon. Mass, which begins at 1 p.m., will be open to the public, and the church will open an hour earlier. Seating will be reserved for invited guests. Josef Abrhám was one of the most popular Czech actors.
The organizers state that the bus line 138 from Kačerov will be strengthened. It will be possible to park under the church on Roztylské náměstí.
Abrham was famous for the roles of handsome, seducers, doctors or fake chief, both humorous and serious. Abrham played grateful roles in the comedies Kullový blesk or Vrchní, prchni !, in the lively Menzel adaptation of Vladislav Vančura’s novel The End of Old Times or in the Beggar’s Opera. The audience was also remembered by the zealous Dr. Blažej from the series Hospitals on the Outskirts of the City. Abrham’s most significant recent role was the Chancellor in Václav Havel’s film debut Leaving 2011.
Abrham’s departure provoked great emotions among the Czechs as well as the Slovaks. Friends often reminded Abrham in connection with his wife Libuše Šafránková, with whom, according to them, he formed an inseparable couple. Šafránková died last June, the last farewell to her favorite actress took place in the same church where people can come and pay their respects to Josef Abrhám today.
