In view of climate change, environmental and climate protection has become more important to the public in recent years. More and more people are paying attention to sustainable consumption and the corona crisis has also contributed to increasing appreciation for local and regional companies. In June, the InfoEck, the state’s information center for young people, families and senior citizens, will focus on the topic of “sustainable consumption”. At the locations in Innsbruck, Imst and Wörgl as well as on the website and the social media channels, the InfoEck provides information on topics such as sustainability when shopping, repairing instead of throwing away or eco-labels as well as themed campaigns and events in Tyrol and emphasizes the central importance of a sustainable consumer behavior attentive.
The most important points of contact and specialist offices for everything to do with sustainability, climate and environmental protection are on the InfoEck website at www.infoeck.at listed. The social media channels of the InfoEck also draw attention to events and provide impulses for self-reflection on one’s own buying behavior and lifestyle.
“With our consumer behavior, we can not only make a contribution to environmental and climate protection across generations, but also have a say in the social conditions under which products are manufactured and where our money is invested. By buying regional food, for example, long transport routes and high energy consumption due to longer storage can be avoided. In addition, this secures jobs in our state and convinces the Tyrol as a business location,” emphasizes the Provincial Council for Families and Economics Anton Mattel.
Low-threshold access to information essential
Access to information that is as low as possible is the basic prerequisite for the implementation of sustainable consumption in the private sector, believes LR Mattle: “You can only make sustainable decisions if you are well informed. The InfoEck not only provides a lot of information on the topic of ‘sustainability’, but also offers an overview of the existing specialist institutions and offers in Tyrol.”
Aside from the monthly focus, the information center of the state is available to young people, families and senior citizens all year round with a wide range of tested and professionally researched information on topics such as opportunities abroad, education, family support or leisure activities in person, by telephone or digitally and in any case confidentially and anonymously.
