It’s definitely a dark season for Gérard Lopez. After having experienced success with Losc, the Luxembourg businessman is disillusioned at the head of the Girondins de Bordeaux, relegated to Ligue 2, but also with the Belgian club of Mouscron, in bankruptcy.
As if that were not enough, the owner of the Bordeaux club is also the subject of an investigation in Luxembourg, as revealed by the Luxembourg press. This dates back to 2014, when the businessman owned, with Eric Lux, the Lotus Formula 1 team.
He denies these accusations
This week, Gérard Lopez was charged with forgery and use of forgery in connection with a transfer of two million euros between his F1 Team and the Luxembourg football club of Fola Esch, of which he was also the owner. This sum would then have been removed to a company based in Hong Kong and owned by Eric Lux. Presumed innocent, the boss of the Girondins denies the accusations of money laundering. He faces a sentence of three months to five years in prison.
