Toulouse: before opening, this restaurant installed a cardboard terrace
On the small Place de l’Estrapade, in the Saint-Cyprien district of Toulouse, restaurants and bars share the space with their terraces glued to each other. Among them, a new restaurant has settled, which installed cardboard tables on its terrace for two weeks before receiving its furniture.
Le Superette Burger is a burger restaurant inspired by American cuisine. A place that opened on June 1st but which still caused a sensation during the previous two weeks with its unusual pre-opening. Tables made of cardboard and small colorful stools have slipped into the middle of the terraces. No storefront, no name, no information, and no table! You had to be lucky to come across it and enjoy a good burger.
American boxes
After many trips around the world such as Biarritz, Hong Kong or even New York, the boss, Vincent, aged 31, has returned home. The Toulouse chef draws inspiration from his travels and offers sandwiches worthy of the America in which he lived. “The cardboard boxes used to wait for the arrival of my furniture were cardboard boxes for the famous “Potato Buns” which are traditional American burger buns made with potato starch.” Bread from the other continent, but meat from the butcher opposite. It’s a mix between travel and local. The former pizzeria is now adorned with a decoration typical of “US diners”, with a long stainless steel bar on which customers can sit.
