Foster Days 2022 begin on Thursday, June 2
The capital city of Prague, in cooperation with the district authorities and non-profit organizations, is also organizing foster care days this year, which aim to support alternative family care. The event is held under the auspices of Milena Johnová, Councilor m of Prague for social policy and healthcare. The program will start on Thursday, June 2 in Prague 3 on Jiřího z Poděbrad Square and end on Friday, June 10.
Foster care is a form of substitute family care that should enable children who cannot be cared for by their biological parents to grow up in a family and thus have a full life. The metropolis and many other regions of the Czech Republic are facing a shortage of foster parents, which is why Prague, as in previous years, wants to thank those who take care of needy children through the Foster Days. And on this occasion, he wants to support the world of alternative family care. The aim of these days is to motivate potential applicants and introduce them to the benefits that foster care brings.
There are currently about 1,275 foster parents in Prague, yet at least several dozen new foster parents are missing for children in need, both in long-term care and temporarily. “I would like everyone to see into the life of one of the foster families. It is amazing to see how much love, care and joy children who would otherwise grow up in an institution can experience thanks to foster parents. I really appreciate all foster parents and she was happy to invite the people of Prague to the Foster Days to find out more, “says the councilor. m of Prague for social policy Milena Johnová.
Foster care should help to overcome the difficult period of a child’s life when his or her own family cannot fulfill its basic role. It is thanks to this form of care that children get a second chance. During the Foster Days (program in the appendix) it will be possible to visit various discussions, discussions with foster parents or, for example, screenings of documentaries on the topic of foster care.
The program will also provide answers to various questions related to foster care – for example, how it is possible to become a foster parent, what demands are placed on the applicant, how to offer support services for the family, etc. Specific stories and more information about foster care can be found HERE.
The program will start on Thursday, June 2, in the Prague 3 district, where there will be an information stand at the Veletrojka trade fair, specifically on Jiřího z Poděbrad Square. Another interesting event awaits the public on Monday, June 6, when it will have an open day of the Colorful World of Children from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. about foster care. The entire Foster Days program will then end on Friday, June 10, as part of a meeting with foster parents on a temporary basis.
