Old money scam from Romania

A Tennengauer fell for a previously unknown fraudster. He offered him the outdated Romanian currency, the leu. According to the police, the 31-year-old lost a total of 680 euros through the exchange. His willingness to help put Salzburg in this predicament.
The unknown spoke to the Tennengauer on a gravel parking lot in Adnet (Tennengau). He was on his way to Germany with his wife and child and had to exchange money because his fuel tank would soon be empty.
Leu worthless since 2005
The Tennengauer then pays the man to fill up the tank and other purchases. He then accepted Romanian leu in exchange for a total of 680 euros. The helpful Tennengauer even brought the scammer to his home to raise enough cash. The Salzburg native only found out much later that the leu had not been exchanged since 2005, when the fraudster had already traveled all over the mountains.

The police are now looking for the suspect. He is around 25 years old, around 1.70 meters tall, has brown hair and is slim. Investigators warn the population against accepting Leu. Similar cases of fraud would increase.
