Egypt, Sweden discusses the promotion of economic cooperation, tourism – Foreign Affairs – Egypt

According to the ministry, Shoukry has expressed Egypt’s interest in strengthening bilateral cooperation with Sweden and added that the current development boom in Egypt provides a great opportunity for Swedish companies to consolidate their presence and investments, especially in the areas of telecommunications, IT, digital transformation. smart solutions, clean energy, education and car manufacturing.
During a visit to Egypt in September 2021, Sweden’s Foreign Minister Anna Hallberg stated that Egypt is Sweden’s main trading partner in Africa and the third largest partner in the Middle East, and added that more than 30 Swedish companies currently work in Egypt.
In the same month, Egypt’s Minister of Industry and Trade Nevine El-Gamea stated that trade between the two countries reached about $ 913.4 million in 2020, an increase from $ 734 million in 2019 – an increase of 25 percent.
During his meeting with Linde, Shoukry also talked about increasing Swedish tourism to Egypt.
He further discussed the recent developments Egypt is witnessing in all areas, especially in terms of sustainable economic practices in the midst of current global challenges.
The two top diplomats then agreed to continue working to strengthen bilateral cooperation and to maintain consultation and coordination between their countries.
Shoukry, who is also the nominated president of the UN Party Conference on Climate Change 2022 (COP27), went to Sweden’s Stockholm on Monday to participate in the sixth ministerial meeting on climate action (MoCA6).
The event – which together hosts Canada, the EU and China – started on May 31, with several high-level ministers and representatives from around the world attending the event.
