Decisive day for providing the Republic of Moldova with electricity
On Tuesday, the contract for the supply of electricity for the Republic of Moldova expires, both with the Moldovan Thermal Power Plant (Moldgres), which supplies 70% of the necessary electricity, and with the Ukrainian company Ukrhydroenergo. Moldovan authorities have not yet been able to resolve long-term electricity problems.
At the end of April, Energocom, based on direct negotiations, signed a purchase contract with Moldgres, at a price of $ 59.5 / MWh. MGRES has undertaken to provide 70% of its electricity needs for May.
On May 11, SA Energocom also signed a contract for a 30% demand for electricity in May with the Ukrainian company Ukrhydroenergo, in accordance with the provisions of the Commission of Exceptional Situations of April 29.
The Ukrainian operator has been delivering energy since May 12. “Under the terms of the contract, at the request of the Ukrainian parties, the desired price for this contract is a trade secret and will not be disclosed, but I can confirm that it is a lower price than the bids received in the previous auction,” said Vladimir Sadovoi, general manager. . interim to Energocom.
Thus, for May, the estimated average price of electricity was 66.7 USD; and the bill bill for May remained unchanged.
If Moldgres is unable to deliver electricity, the minister continued, Ukrainian producers could replace the energy produced by Mgres, including 30% to cover all electricity needs.
“The price on the Ukrainian market for electricity was $ 63.5 per MWh, lower than the one proposed by Mgres. We are continuing the talks with the partners from Ukraine, until Friday, we hope to have more answers “, he also officially reported.
At the same time, the minister also said that in Romania, electricity prices are much higher, yesterday they amounted to 241 euros for a MWh.
