“(a)Riscar o Património”: more than one hundred pages of sketches from Portugal | tours
By reconciling the verbs “riscar” and “arriscar” the spirit of the project is identified. (a) Risking the Heritage, which began in 2014 as a result of the initiative of Margarida Donas Botto and Jorge Vila Nova, technicians from the Directorate-General for Heritage, who thus joined the design, heritage and travel. Partnership with the association Urban Sketchers Portugaland integrated in the European Heritage Days, the book with the same name is now born.
O (a) Risking the Heritage (PRP, 16.50 euros) also appears “as a way of filling a gap”, reads in the first pages of this edition: “through the design – or, more specifically, the sketch (outline) –a representation of heritage and a more relaxed reading is possible, long with the monumentality and weight of the word heritage itself”.
There are eight years (and 112 pages) of “quick drawings, made at the whim of the moment, in notebooks of different dimensions and characteristics, capturing places, environments, people, moments and monuments – since the transversal theme of this project is always , the patrimony, in everything that it contains of diverse and universal”.
The (a)Riscar o Património project is based on the knowledge and recognition of heritage through “a playful, inclusive and innovative component that encompasses an increasingly large number of stakeholders”. “Another fundamental step is taken in the disclosure of two worlds that are final, so close”.
