Olymp Cars from Austria operates several electric cars
Olymp Cars is a new manufacturer of electric cars and hydrogen powered vehicles from Austria. The company is planning several models on the official platform “Hephaestus”. Two companies are behind the start-up: the provider of car subscriptions and Modern Mobility, which has many years of experience in fleet management.
An SUV with the name Ares, which is to start in the middle class segment with a length of 4.80 meters, gives a first glimpse of the planned offer. A range of 600 kilometers is targeted, as well as a charging time of up to 80 percent of 20 minutes. The power should be up to 257 kW (350 hp), the top speed at 160 km/h. Further technical data or details are not yet known.
The Athena and Apollo models, mid-size and upper mid-size sedans, will be launched on the same platform. A shooting brake variant is also planned for each of them. The technical specifications should correspond to those of the Ares. In addition, the Selene city car, the Hera family van and the Artemis pick-up are in preparation with different data but the same technology. However, the first car from Olymp Cars is to be the electric van for commercial customers Hermes, which can travel 700 kilometers per charge.
“Above all, we want to offer our customers cheap and affordable electric cars that are made with German or Austrian quality,” said Elias Skodras, CEO of Modern Mobility and one of the co-founders of Olymp Cars, in an interview with the courier.
According to Skodras, Olymp Cars WILL NOT build its own electric cars. For the van, talks are being held with an eligible partner in Germany, the city car could be made to order in Italy and the Ares in Austria. Skodras emphasized that the development of the vehicles was taken in hand with the help of appropriate experts. The designer has worked for Volvo and Porsche, among others. They want to stay as European as possible, but the batteries should come from China.
When it comes to sales, subscriptions, direct sales and also leasing models are conceivable for Olymp Cars. The use of returning vehicles in a second life is also part of the planning. Even before that, the production should be sustainable.
Olymp Cars will present its cars in spring 2023, and production of the Hermes van is scheduled to start in the middle of next year. At the beginning, the focus is on pure battery drive, the use of hydrogen technology is only planned later.
