Toulouse. A double for the TUC
After its “indoor” title at the end of January, the TUC Ultimate team won the outdoor title on May 22 at the Robert-Barran stadium.
We left the TUC training at the end of January with the regional “indoor” title (5 against 5) and the rise to N3. Four months later, the TUC Ultimate “BTR Nuts” team did it again at the end of the “outdoor” Occitanie championship (7 against 7). “In 2019, for its first outdoor participation, the team finished in 3rd place. The following two years, because of the Covid, there was no test”, indicates Lisa Cannizzo, coach and player of the Toulouse team in the same way as Simon Vandevelde.
75 minutes in the first half against Rodez!
The Tucistes first met in Figeac, on April 30 and May 1, to play the first leg. Verdict: four successes in four games. “We beat the Rodez team in particular, 15 to 6, who were favorites,” said Lisa Cannizzo. Then, on May 21 and 22, the phase returns to took place in the Pink City, at the Robert-Barran stadium. “We won our first two matches. Then we lost 8-6 against Rodez. We were leading 6-4. Halftime comes when a team reaches 7 points. 6 after 75 minutes of play!”, she continues.
See you on the sand at the start of the school year
To win the title, Toulouse had to finish in style against Figeac. “We were able to avoid the trap to win 15-2. It’s a source of pride to sign the double. We also attacked this championship with the same squad as during the indoor phase, recruiting a few students to make the number”, emphasizes Simon Vandevelde.
“We could still count on an excellent state of mind. Note that the last point of the weekend was scored by Maxime Le Coz, 34, founder of the team in 2019, who played his last year in competition”, insists Lisa Cannizzo.
Certainly, the season of “BTR Nuts” is over. However, the training does not stop. And from September, for the new vintage, a box is already ticked with the “beach ultimate” championship planned (unless changed) in Royan. But there, the Toulousains will attack directly by a national phase.
