The Swedish Prime Minister acknowledges that the integration of immigrants has failed
Sweden is facing a crisis with the integration of a large number of immigrants who have flooded the country in recent years. Swedish Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson sa on April 28 that the integration of immigrants has failed, which incited gang crime in the Scandinavian country. To address the problem, the Swedish Prime Minister announced a series of initiatives to control the growing organized crime in the country.
The news came after violent riots in Sweden left over 100 police officers injured. According to reports, riots broke out in the country after a Swedish-Danish politician burned a copy of the Muslim holy book Koran at a meeting and suggested that similar burning would speak of a place in immigrant-dominated districts.
The authorities’ failure to integrate the immigrants that the country has received in recent years has led to the formation of parallel societies. Gang violence is much more common in the country now compared to other European countries, data suggest.
Prime Minister Andersson accuses criminals of law and order and said that extremism on both sides, ie Islam and the right, was allowed to grow in Sweden. She said: “Segregation has had to go so far that we have parallel societies in Sweden. We live in the same country but in completely different realities. ”
The population of people born abroad in the last two decades amounts to 2 million, which is a fifth of the total population. She said: “Integration has been too bad at a time when we have had a lot of immigration. Society has been too weak, the resources for police and social services have been too weak.” It is noteworthy that her party, the Social Democrats, has been in power for 28 of the last 40 years, and since 2014 the party has ruled the nation.
The increasing number of gun violence in Sweden
It shows a report from the Crime Prevention Council released in 2021 [PDF English Summery], the country, once considered one of the safest countries in the world, is now number one in Europe in terms of fatal shootings. It is noteworthy that in the early 2000s Sweden had the best crime statistics in the region. But in 2019, it reported the maximum shootings in Europe.
The report stated, “In terms of the level of gun homicides, the proportion in Sweden is ranked very high compared to other European countries, with about 4 deaths per million inhabitants and year. The average for Europe is about 1.6 per million inhabitants.”
According to reports, the authorities have identified 60 “vulnerable areas” in Sweden. Most inhabited by immigrants, unemployment and crime are higher in these areas compared to other regions in Sweden. With only 5.4% of the population, 50% of the shootings took place in these areas. The study indicated that most murders in 2020 took place in these so-called vulnerable areas.
Since 2020, many high-profile murders have taken place, as a result of Deputy National Police Chief Mats Löfving having to make a statement in which he pointed out that 40 migrant clans operate in Sweden and held them responsible for the violence.
He said: “These clans have come to Sweden only to organize crime. They work to create power, they have a great capacity for violence and they want to make money. And they do it through drug crimes, violent crimes and extortion. “
Sweden is scheduled to hold general elections at the end of 2022. Recently, the country has tried to make its immigration policy strict. As a result, the dubious human rights organization Amnesty International criticized Sweden, claiming that the tightening of policies caused human suffering and made integration more difficult for immigrants.
