Saifuddin begins 8-day official visit to Sweden, Denmark, Norway
PUTRAJAYA: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah (picture) will carry out an official visit to Sweden, Denmark and Norway from 29 May to 5 June.
The visit to the Scandinavian countries would provide opportunities for the Foreign Minister to meet his counterparts and discuss the way forward to strengthen the multifaceted cooperation between Malaysia and the respective countries.
This visit would also provide an opportunity for Malaysia to discuss and exchange views on post-Covid cooperation, ASEAN cooperation and interregional and international issues of mutual interest, according to a statement from the Foreign Ministry on Sunday (May 29).
During his visit to Sweden on 29-31 May, the Minister of Foreign Affairs will hold meetings with his Swedish counterpart Ann Linde, the First Deputy Speaker of the Riksdag Åsa Lindestam; and the members of the Swedish Foreign Affairs Committee.
He will also participate in a roundtable discussion that will be held at Stockholm’s International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), and is planned to meet with the state-linked authorities, the statement said.
In Denmark on 1 and 2 June, Saifuddin would meet with Denmark’s Foreign Minister Jeppe Kofod, the Nordic Council’s Secretary General Kristina Háfoss, and a meeting with the committee members of the Malaysia Denmark Association.
Saifuddin is also scheduled to speak at Asia House, Copenhagen, a well-known facility that has historically hosted many personalities from around the world.
During his visit to Norway on 3-5 June, the Foreign Minister would meet with the Norwegian counterpart Anniken Huitfeldt and hold meetings with the Norwegian Parliament’s Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs and Defense, the delegation to the Asia-Europe Parliamentary Partnership. , and meet the director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, Olav Njølstad.
While in Stockholm and Oslo, Saifuddin would also host the Keluarga Malaysia reception.- Bernama
