Riders Tour Qualifying Jumping and Marcel Marschall –
The Riders Tour qualifying competition in Munich shows: Felix Haßmann can also be beaten in the jump-off, even if he fights his way through the undergrowth in the jump-off.
Ten of 56 rider/horse pairs made it into the jump-off of the Riders Tour Qualifying Show in Munich. Six of them remained flawless. 22 hundredths of a second finally made the difference. “In the jump-off, I didn’t think I had any great chances of winning because the competition was very, very strong,” said the winner, Marcel Marschall from Heiligkreuztal (BaWü). Was him half: Marshal went to the jump-off last and knew that he was well mounted. “I have a very experienced horse. She has a very large canter, which I was able to use a bit.” The 31-year-old show jumper won the Riders Tour qualifier over 1.45 meters.
Until then, the Bavarian “local hero” Michael Viehweg, first rider in the jump-off with Contario, had led. “Contario is nine years old, has been showing good performances for weeks, he also mastered the jump-off course well,” he praised his Austrian Conterndro son.
Third place went to Westphalia to Felix Hassmann. The former German champion brought the Holsteiner Carreras with him to Munich on Horseback International. And because a Westphalian tends to be pragmatic, he briefly steers the white horse through a group of trees. All other riders had avoided the wood. Not so Hassmann. Eyes shut and go for it. “I tried something – the horse isn’t the fastest of all, but did really well”. Haßmann, whose facility in Lienen is currently feeling like a construction site because it is being converted for the dressage horses of his girlfriend Lena Waldmann, is looking towards the decisive jumping after the Riders Tour qualifying competition: “I hope he will do it again on Sunday.”
Denis Nielsen, still a former German champion, finished fourth with Jamela ahead of US Amazon Paris Sellon with Remix.
In the Bavarian Grand Prix, there are two rounds in the CSI2* show jumping test over 1.45 meters.
