Water bill, 5 tips for saving money » PACA’s economic and political letter
Is your water bill too high? Discover ways to reduce it by consuming less at home. The key is great savings and a reduced carbon footprint!
Why save water?
For economic reasons: 8.5% of your annual expenses go to your energy bills, or almost 3,000 euros per year(2)! By saving water, you reduce your bills.
An ecological gesture: on a daily basis, a French person consumes 93% of drinking water for personal hygiene, sanitary facilities, dishes, laundry and the maintenance of his home and 7% for drinking and preparing meals (2) . By using a little less water for these different tasks, you can do something for the planet. An important gesture because water is a fragile resource, and access to drinking water is one of the major challenges in the world.
On a daily basis, all you need to do is change a few small habits and adopt eco-gestures to make a difference without having to invest large sums.
1- Your water bill prefers the shower!
The bath consumes 3 to 5 times more water than a shower(4). It is still necessary that the shower does not last too long and that the water is turned off while you soap yourself. The recommendation is generally not to exceed “the time of a song”!
2- Aerator, shower stopper… equip yourself to save water
Also, if not already done:
Use a shower stopper
You can install an element called a “stop-shower” to block the water for soaping and find it at the right temperature to rinse off.
