the world tennis elite is preparing in Annecy before battling it out on the courts of Porte d’Auteuil
The world’s best wheelchair tennis players are currently in Haute-Savoie for the Annecy International Open, which serves as a general rehearsal before Roland-Garros where the wheelchair tennis tournament will begin on May 31.
“This International Open is good preparation for Roland-Garros“says Dana Mathewson, 8th wheelchair tennis player in the world. She and around forty other players compete until May 28 on the courts of Club Annecy Tennis on the occasion of the International Open organized in Haute-Savoie.
For gentlemen and ladies alike, several members of the World Top 10 are present on the superb site of the Marquisats. Among the headliners, the Japanese Yui Kamiji (world No. 2) and the Argentinian Gustavo Fernandez (world No. 3).
This tournament is therefore an opportunity to proven with clay and “prepare the players“according to Daniel Courcol, the Deputy Director General of the French Tennis Federation:
There is a tournament in France after Roland Garros and we wanted a tournament to take place before Roland Garros.

The competition is part of the international circuit. Previously organized in Le Touquet in Pas-de-Calais, the tournament is taking place for the first time in Haute-Savoie.
For the occasion, the Annecy club mobilized all its employees and volunteers in record time. “We already have very good para tennis players in the club, who are in National 2“says Cyril Duret, president of the Annecy Tennis club.
We want to make the Marquisats site a place of inclusion.

It may well be that the Annecy Tennis club will become a meeting place for top-level athletes: the International Open is settling on the shores of Lake Annecy for a period of three years.
