Portugal with two top-5 in the European Paracycling long-distance events
On Sunday Flávio Pacheco, in H4, and Luís Costa, in H5, complete 52.8 kilometers in the remaining distance tests, for handbikes, ending the European Championship.
The Portuguese Telmo Pinão, fifth in C2, and Bernardo Vieira, among seven participants in C1, proved this Saturday good results in the European Paracycling classes, until Sunday in Austria.
In Gaspoltshofen, Spaniard Ricardo Ten dominated in C1, after the silver in the time trial, beating two Germans, Pierre Senska, second at 4.48 minutes, and Michael Teuber, third at 4.55.
Bernardo Vieira was fourth, off the podium by a wide margin, finishing 9.14 minutes from the winner, in a race with seven entries on the road.
Frenchman Alexandre Leaute won another gold, after triumphing in the “chrono”, and beat Britain’s Matthew Robertson, second, by 1.34 minutes, with Spaniard Maurice Tio in third, at 3.15. Pinão was fifth, at 4.58.
In C5, Hélder Maximino achieved 12th place in the race, 9.53 minutes from the winner, Frenchman Kevin le Cunff.
