in Verona the consumption of drinking water for uses other than domestic and sanitary is prohibited
“Until 31 August, unless further measures are taken, the consumption of drinking water throughout the municipal area is limited to domestic and sanitary purposes only”. This was announced by the Municipality of Verona, explaining that the mayor Federico Sboarina signed the ordinance which provides for the “imitation, during the day, of the consumption of drinking water for domestic and / or sanitary purposes only”.
It is therefore “forbidden to use other things” such as, for example, “irrigating vegetable gardens, gardens and sports fields, washing cars, with the exception of authorized facilities”. It is also forbidden to fill swimming pools or anything else that is not necessary for human needs.
The measure, specifies the note of Palazzo Barbieri, was requested by Acque Veronesi “due to the persistence of meteorological conditions with strong increases in temperatures, linked to seasonality, which have affected the water availability of the municipal area”. The possible use of drinking water, for reasons other than domestic and sanitary, is allowed, if necessary, “only at night, from 21 to 6 in the morning”.
