The new political party Motorists themselves wants to take part in the autumn elections to the capital council. He intends to reach out to voters by fighting for the interests of drivers and motorists. Behind the party are Petr Macinka, who has been working at the Václav Klaus Institute for a long time, and people dedicated to motoring and car clubs.
He described the “long-term hostile attitude of the Prague leadership towards drivers and motorists” as the reason for the formation of the new political party. He said that this was a deliberate non-political project. “We do not have the ambition to create recipes for solving education or health care problems that other politicians are arguing about. We are exclusively interested in the interests of motorists who have been bullied by the management of Prague for a long time, “he said. According to him, motoring and motoring must be given priority over cyclists and green activists in Prague.
Macinka considers driving to be a lot of existence, when he described cycling as just a leisure activity. As a top priority, the emerging party will push for a return to multi-lane and the removal of all “unnecessary measures by which the anti-motor leadership of the capital bullys Prague drivers in the context of so-called traffic calming.”
Macinka considers the Pirates and the Prague Sobě group to be the main political opponents. Motorists reject each other before the election in cooperation with other political parties and movements. According to Macinka, they do not believe that key automotive issues are really a priority. On the new side, it did not cooperate “with all generally green parties”, especially the Pirates and then the entity associated with Jan Čižinský (Prague Sobě) and his current collaborators. Macinka also stated that traffic in Prague can no longer be driven by people “who ride a bike and blame the drivers for gaining it by driving”.
According to him, the motorists will be a political party registered with the Ministry of the Interior, and the people around the project are now completing the necessary steps. Macinka remarked that, in addition to him, behind the group are people who have long been dedicated to the field of motoring and are associated in various car clubs and associations.
Elections to the capital council will be held on September 23 and 24. A coalition of Pirates, Prague Sobě and the United Forces for Prague (TOP 09, STAN and KDU-ČSL) now rules in Prague. The opposition in the council consists of ODS and YES.
