The men’s national torball elite, first division, met at the Flamens gymnasium in Castelsarrasin. It was the Toulouse team that triumphed, keeping their place of champion against Grenoble, Marseille, Nice, Clermont-Ferrand, Lisieux and Martinique.
Congratulations to each team for their ranking: 1st Toulouse, champion of France with the best attack and the best defense; 2nd Nice, 3rd Marseille, 4th Grenoble, 5th Lisieux, 6th Clermont-Ferrand, 7th La Martinique.
The organization of this day is the result of a partnership between the departmental disabled sports committee of Tarn-et-Garonne (CDH 82) and the municipal sports office (OMS) of Castelsarrasin. Note also the help of high school students from the Lestonnac Institute in Beaumont-de-Lomagne as part of their personal training services and archers from Castelsarrasin.
A sport that comes to us from Germany
Created in Germany in 1955 in rehabilitation centers for war wounded, torball, this discipline appeared in France in the 1970s. Initially, it was a ball sport practiced by visually impaired athletes (visually impaired or not). -lights). From 2005, sighted people could also participate, on the sole condition of wearing an opaque mask. The ball is filled with bells made of iron filings to allow the players to hear it. Playing torball well requires listening, concentration and making yourself as undetectable as possible. The sound dimension is predominant.
This physical activity combines resistance, liveliness and flexibility. Location in space, coordination and precision of gestures are essential to the practice of this sport. You have to know how to go from hearing to movements quickly.
Perhaps the discipline will experience a new lease of life in the Tarn-et-Garonne department and will arouse some vocations?
