At 12, he saves an injured cyclist by calling the emergency services in Auxi-le-Château
It emphasizes the attitude “remarkable citizen” of little Erwan, 12 years old. The mayor of Auxi-le-Château, Henri Dejonghe, congratulated the boy, who saved a 49-year-old cyclist, victim of a fall on an old railway line this Friday at the beginning of the afternoon, at the exit of this city located on the border between Pas-de-Calais and the Somme.
He was very attentive to what the firefighters were doing.
As he hears cries, Erwan approaches and discovers the cyclist, lying down and injured. He takes the victim’s mobile phone to call for help and then remains the time of the intervention of the firefighters. “He was very attentive to what the firefighters were doing. It’s interesting because the firefighters told me that there was a car that stopped, the driver watched before driving off without doing anything to the person who was on the ground”, remembers the mayor, still moved by the gesture of the boy.
A “courageous and citizen” act according to the mayor of the town
If young Erwan left the scene of the accident without leaving his contact details with the mayor, Henri Dejonghe greets the “cold blood” boy, “a courageous and civic act of not letting someone difficult in the house when at twelve years old he could have been panicked or remained inactive. He had the right reflexes!”. The cyclist was then transported by the SAMU helicopter. His days are not in danger.
