Velvet – Life – Here’s the nightlife paradise in Budapest – Discover the renewed Injection Molding
Renovated nightclubs are opening in a row, bars, just waiting for the crowds to storm the counters. None of Budapest’s cult venues, Fröccsterasz, has been idle, and has even undergone renovations inside and out. The Velvet team took a close look at the innovations, got a taste of the food and beverage offerings, and the operators also learned how the future of one of the capital’s favorites, its free nightclub, is evolving.
Loose, gravelly, youthful
Since the operators of Pontoon and Raqpart took control, Fröccsterasz has undergone a complete transformation: we are waiting for visitors with a seasonal atmosphere and offer in winter and summer.
Fröccsterasz used to be a slightly outdated place, open until dawn, reminiscent of ruin pubs. With our team, we will do everything we can to change that from 2021 onwards. The biggest change is that we provide programs for visitors every day of the week: street food and drink, live music, dance floor, special performers. During the night entertainment, we apply “screening”, face control, the design of the place has also become more closed. Last fall, we even embarked on a new project: we opened the Gin Corner Bar. From September, the Terminal will also be completely transformed and will not operate as an extended conservatory on the Injection, but as a completely independent party venue.

From carnival atmosphere to acoustic concerts
What exactly does all-week entertainment mean? Balázs Farkas, program manager and coordinator, introduced us to the details.
The party will start on Wednesday when a Cuban band, La Movida Cuba, performs with us. In addition to the carnival atmosphere, there is also a dance lesson, in which case almost the entire terrace becomes a dance floor. We have themed parties from Thursday to Saturday: there are DJs who start before sunset and play mainly digestible, well-sounding music in the background until ten in the evening, if not disturbing, even if we just talk to friends. There are acoustic concerts with Zsuzsi Kollányi, Viktor Király and Viktor Varga, among others. The band of the presenter and drummer, Gábor Garami, the Garami Funky Staff has already performed with us, the Jam Session of Gerendás Tesók will be held every two weeks. There are also parties when dancers come in: for example, a 4-5 person hip-hop team that performs several times and then involves the audience at the end of the choreographies. We also get offers from young, talented musicians who are still looking for their way. If we find someone who fits the theme, someone is good too, we provide an opportunity to act. We end the weekend with a bit of relaxation, with chilling music on Sundays.

Delicacies next to the splatter
The food supply capable of last year has also changed a lot.
Although we opened the kitchen in collaboration with the Greek food bar Meraki during the coronavirus epidemic, a complete change of concept has now taken place. We’ve taken things into our own hands, run our own kitchen and work with a new chef. We have come up with an easy-to-eat, demanding and varied menu. I think guests get exactly what completes the patio experience – both for burgers and pizzas. A specialty has been added to the menu, including hake.
Attila Éliás pointed out. The chef of Fröccsterasz, Ádám Cser, who previously proved it on TV2’s Chefs, spoke in more detail about the clean, varied menu.

Basically easy-to-eat, party foods were on the menu. Mostly Italian and American inspired street food can be consumed with us, but we savored each dish with a little extra. We plan a two-course daily or weekly menu and favor vegetarians as well. I dreamed of a salad with sourdough bread, smoked beets, horseradish cream, but since one of my main scourges for me is Asian food, we might try it too.
The chef betrayed. He added that most of the ingredients are made by them.
Our hamburger meat, for example, is special because it is made from matured beef. We do everything at home, from tomato sauce to cheese sauce. Nothing comes to us frozen. Our kitchen is also open until dawn on weekends, in which case you can choose from a menu with fewer options. I think it’s rare in the capital.
