The mayor of Marseille Benoît Payan will take legal action against a circus for animal abuse
A new controversy around a circus with animals in Marseille. The focus this time is on the Muller circus, a marquee installed in the 10th arrondissement, Pont-de-Vivaux district. On site in particular, a lion or a hippopotamus, the largest in Europe. But his presence is not to everyone’s liking: a petition is currently circulating on the Internet, with near 27,000 signatories to leave the circus.
Also annoyed by the presence of the circus with its animals, Mayor of Marseille Benoit Payan now wants to take legal action for abuse. The chosen one writes this Friday, May 27 on his Twitter account that “Circuses that exploit animals will never be welcome.” For his part, the owner John Muller intends to leave his tent with the animals.
A law has been passed to ban wild circuses, but it will be applied in 2028.
