(dr) From May 24th to 25th, 2022, a joint control action by the Hessian state police and the main customs office in Frankfurt am Main took place at Frankfurt Airport. There was active support from the ranks of the Federal Police, the Federal Office for Goods Transport and the Federal Agency for Technical Relief. The main focus of the measures on a parking area of the airport was in the area of freight control in goods traffic, as well as mobile controls and speed measurements. Among other things, a fully mobile X-ray system (VMR), with which trucks were x-rayed, as well as a ScanVan for luggage and a customs search vehicle were used.
During the two-day checks, the forces deployed were able to identify a number of criminal offenses; including violations of the Residence Act, driving without a license, driving under the influence of narcotics, drug possession and violations of the Compulsory Insurance Act. The result was five provisional arrests, four blood tests and a total of 18 criminal charges.
Some road users were also not so precise with the permitted maximum speed. The officials of the state police punished 56 speeding violations. In addition, some customs duties and taxes and the BAG were able to collect more than 20,000 euros in security payments.
A ripped windshield meant that the bus ride came to an end. In addition, some truck drivers had to have the defects identified on site repaired before continuing their journey.
A total of 620 vehicles and over 1250 people were checked. The security partners will monitor their controls in the area of national and international traffic routes in order to further uncover and prosecute criminal and administrative offenses.
