Maximilian Wöber extends contract with Red Bull Salzburg
After rumors of a move abroad, Maximilian Wöber committed himself to Red Bull Salzburg and surprisingly extended his contract with the Austrian series champion.
Maximilian Wöber signs a new working paper with the Red Bulls that runs until June 30, 2025.
“Max is not only a strong defender, exactly the way we want him to be. He’s also a real leader in the team who likes to take responsibility, which is an important factor, especially with our young team. He has established himself in Salzburg has developed a lot as a player and as a personality in the last three years. We are all the happier that we were able to extend him early,” said sporting director Christoph Freund.
After the stations Rapid, Ajax Amsterdam and FC Sevilla, Wöber came to Salzburg in August 2019. The central defender has made 104 appearances for Salzburg (seven goals, three assists).
“I’ve been to a number of big clubs abroad, so I know better what I’ve got here at FC Red Bull Salzburg. I’ve established a good standing and can play football successfully at a very high level in excellent conditions. I appreciate that very much, and I really enjoy that,” says Wöber about the new contract.
