KO drops detected in women, police warn
timeline
On Thursday night, two young women in the city of Salzburg were mixed with knockout drops in their drinks. The narcotics were found in the hospital. The police are therefore warning again and advise caution when leaving.
The two young women – a 20-year-old from Lower Austria and a 22-year-old from Flachgau – were at a student party and in some bars in the city of Salzburg on Thursday night. Someone mixed them the KO drops in a drink.
A quick test gave a clear result
According to the police, the woman from Flachgau got a “spongy” feeling on the way home, and her friend felt the same way. The two women went to the hospital immediately. There, the KO drops were clearly identified in a test – the drops can only be detected for a few hours after ingestion. The police launched investigations into assault against an unknown perpetrator.
Crime prevention advises caution
The crime prevention department of the Salzburg State Police Headquarters also advises caution: In order not to become a victim of knockout drops, you should not accept open drinks from strangers. In addition, drinks should not be left unattended. If the drink looks, smells, or tastes strange, stop drinking it.
However, if you suddenly feel nauseous or dizzy, you should quickly contact friends or reliable bar staff and get medical help. You should then report the suspicion of knockout drops to the doctor so that the drops can be detected in a urine or blood sample. A police report should then follow.
