Maximilian Wöber is loyal to FC Red Bull Salzburg!
The 24-year-old centre-back has extended his contract, which runs until 2024, by another year and put an end to rumors of a move abroad. Most recently, the ÖFB team player was primarily associated with VfL Wolfsburg, Wöber himself has repeatedly flirted with a transfer in the past.
In a video statement that the “Bulls” publish on “Twitter”, the former Ajax and Sevilla kicker first thanks “for three incredible years. It was really an incredible time. The international successes were incredible, and I wanted to to say that I still don’t have enough.”
“I’ve grown very fond of the whole club, which is why I decided to extend my contract here. I’m looking forward to more really great years,” smiles Wöber.
Wöber “a real leader in the team”
Since 2019, the left foot has kept the series champion’s defensive chain tight. At that time, Salzburg paid around 10.5 million euros to FC Sevilla. The defender has played 103 games since his return to Austria, scoring seven goals and providing three assists. He also got the double three times recently.
“Max is not only a strong defender, exactly the way we want him to be. He’s also a real leader in the team who likes to take responsibility, which is an important factor, especially with our youngster,” says team Christoph friend about the extension.
“He has changed a lot in Salzburg in the last three years as a player and as a personality. We are all the happier that we were able to extend him early.”
