Cattolica, a plaque and a QRCode not to forget the sacrifice of Rasi and Spinelli
Ceremony this morning at the Cattolica Cemetery at the small monumental complex dedicated to Domenico “Chino” Rasi and Vanzio Spinelli, the young twenty-year-olds shot in that very place in June 1944. Here a commemorative plaque with QRCode was inaugurated which brings to multimedia contents from the “Gobetti – De Gasperi” Institute of Morciano di Romagna and the result of participation in the national competition “Stones of Memory – Explorers of Memory”. The ceremony saw the invaluable participation of Emma Petitti, President of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia-Romagna Region, an institution which in turn promotes the “Memory” project of fellow citizens in schools. The latter is dedicated annually to the pupils of the fifth grades of the primary schools of the Comprehensive Institute of Cattolica, present at today’s appointment. the Mayor of Cattolica, Franca Foronchi, and Federico Vaccarini, Councilor for S cula and Educational Policies leave in the morning; the first citizen of Morciano di Romagna, Giorgio Ciotti; Angela Frisenda, Professor of the “Gobetti – De Gasperi” Institute of Morciano di Romagna; Anna Rosa Vagnoni, Headmaster of the comprehensive school of Cattolica; Alfredo Bianchi, President of Anmig Province of Rimini; Maurizio Castelvetro, President of Anpi Cattolica – Valconca; Laura Giambartolomei, Lecturer at the “Gobetti – De Gasperi” institute who supervised the project; Daniele Susini, Historian and contact person for the “Memoria” project. “This morning – explained Councilor Vaccarini introducing the meeting – we wanted to find a meeting point between the activities of Gobetti – De Gasperi of Morciano and of the fifth classes of the Comprehensive Institute of Cattolica. Two projects both on the value of memory and which it intends to enhance as an expression of the experiences to carry out within our schools “. “We must invest – added Petitti in raising awareness on these issues – to remember that there was a sacrifice of human lives that led us to achieve those rights that we all enjoy today and that we must not tire of defending and taking for granted”. “If we are here today, in addition to remembering, it is because – says the Mayor Foronchi – certain abuses no longer occur. It is because we are on the side of those who fought for freedom and justice. We are on the side of those who say no to wars and others towards violence ”. “It depends on the kids, and we invest in you, because it is important that all this does not happen again”, concluded the First Town, addressing the classes present. The ceremony ended with a presentation of the project by the students of the Gobetti Institute who underlined “just how this monument, although hidden, will always be part of Catholic history, so we will always remember the horror of what was, what what war is and what it will be: as long as memory remains engraved in stone we will all remember. We are here today so as not to let the message fade ”.
