Award proposal to take the name of Nikos Giakoumidis
Proposal, the first #PRESS_photostories award to be named after the photojournalist Nikos Giakoumidis, who passed away two months ago, was submitted by Konstantinos Tsakalidis.
Konstantinos Tsakalidis, winner of this year’s first prize #PRESS_photostories rejected by the Educational Foundation of ESIEM-TH, representing his colleague in Thessaloniki, during today’s opening of the relevant exhibition.
He spoke with emotion about Nikos Giakoumidis and the president of ESIEM-TH and the Educational Foundation Nikos Karras, talking about an “emblematic figure, who embraced from the beginning of the photographic competition of the Educational Foundation”, while in Nikolas, as his friends called him . , all the winners were mentioned.
The awards were presented by the Deputy Regional Governor of Thessaloniki, Voula Patoulidou, the Deputy Mayor of Culture and Tourism of the Municipality of Thessaloniki, Maria Karagianni, the MP of SYRIZA AD Thessaloniki, Katerina Notopoulou, the President of FOSDA Central Macedonia, Michalis Geratis. Georgiadis and Agapi Symeonidou, head of the branch of the Hellenic Open University in Thessaloniki.
The general secretary of the Educational Foundation, Tassos Retzios, and the vice-president, Marni Hadjiemmanuel, signed the plethora of photographers who took part in the competition and noted that the more participants from all over Greece, the bigger the institution, while the reason for the selection . , developed by journalists and members of the jury, Lemonia Vasvani and Kyriaki Tsolaki.
The #PRESS_photostories 2022 Awards
Konstantinos Tsakalidis is the winner of the #PRESS_photostories 2022 award accompanied by the cash prize of 2,000 euros.
The photojournalist of the Athenian / Macedonian News Agency, Dimitris Tosidis, won two awards in this year’s #PRESS_photostories competition, specifically in the categories “Politics” and “Society”. The commendations in the same categories were won by Giannis Dimitropoulos and Angelos Barai / VICE GREECE respectively.
In the “Culture” category, the award went to Costas Mantziaris / FORMEDIA and the praise to Nikolas Oikonomou. Angelos Barai / VICE GREECE won the award in the “Sports” category and Lefteris Partsalis was praised. In the category “Climate Crisis”, the award was won by Alexandros Michailidis / SOOC and the praise by George Moutafis / REUTERS. Finally, the award in the category “Photos using Drone” went to Sakis Gioumbasis and the praise to Nikos Paleologos / SOOC.
A total of 46 photojournalists and journalists took part in this year’s competition, with more than 334 photographs and a field of reference throughout Greece, while the photographs were included in the above categories, defined by the Educational Foundation. In each of the categories, a photo was selected that wins the prize, which is accompanied by a cash prize of 1,000 euros and one that wins the prize.
The photo exhibition that was inaugurated and is hosted at Warehouse DD in the Port of Thessaloniki, will be deleted until June 17, 2022.
