1. FC Köln: Next newcomer in the basement team?: Cologne starts the season with an XXL boardroom – Bundesliga
It is well known that many cooks spoil the broth – at 1. FC Köln you see things differently before the Euro season…
Although the department of sports bosses around new managing director Christian Keller (43) is already more lavishly staffed than ever before in FC history, behind the scenes work is being done to expand it.
According to BILD information, board advisor and transitional sports boss Jörg Jakobs (51) will also receive a new position in Keller’s team in the future and thus work on coach Steffen Baumgart’s (50) squad for the euro.
“We will hopefully find a solution in the next few weeks,” said President Werner Wolf (65) at the beginning of April, explaining his desire to continue to involve Jakobs after his transitional work has ended.
Discussions with the Management Board have now begun. In it, Jakobs is said not only to have signaled that he would rather give up his 70,000 euro job as a Wolf consultant and switch to the Keller team. Jakobs has also spoken to Keller about a possible new role. Now he has to make a decision.
But where is there still room for Jakobs in the XXL executive floor?

► That’s why he already ruled out a simple consulting activity by Jakobs. Cologne’s sports boss is said to want to further expand the scouting and game analysis area. It is also possible that Jakobs will become active there.
It is unclear whether the Wolf board will bring another new sporting adviser to the FC boat as Jakobs’ successor in addition to Erich Rutemöller (77).
But the fact is already: If you used to complain about the too much power of ex-sports bosses like Armin Veh (61) or Horst Heldt (52), there is a risk in the future that too many people will have a say when it comes to newcomers , squad planning and player assessments. New territory also for cellars…
