VIEW / What Russia will provide from the annexation of Zaporozhye :: Politics
The new authorities of the Zaporozhye region have set a strict course: this region, following the Kherson region, intends to become part of Russia. The return resumed after the liberation of the regional capital, which was supposed to be detained by Ukrainian troops and the national battalion. What promises Russia reunification with six lands?
After being liberated from Ukrainian nationalists, the Zaporozhye region will head towards entering Russia as one of the regions of the Southern Federal District. This was stated by Vladimir Rogov, a member of the main council of the military-civilian administration of the region.
On the same day, President Vladimir Putin approved a decree on the simplified acquisition of citizenship of the Russian Federation in the Kherson region and the exemption from the investigation of the Zaporozhye region. Document issuance centers will open in neighboring Crimea, as reported TASS peninsular authorities. According to Rogov, the Zaporozhye region has already begun preparations for the transition of its residents to Russian citizenship.
“Now the administration is engaged in clarifying the lists of people and providing statistical data for organizations issuing Russian passports,” a representative of the Zaporizhzhya State Administration said in an interview with RIA News”. “I’m getting messages from people where to apply to get citizenship,” Rogov said. “This is found among residents of Melitopol, Berdyansk, Energodar, but most of all from Zaporozhye, despite the fact that the city is still, unfortunately, under the control of the Zelensky regime.”
We add that the liberated regions of the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea have taken another important step towards development with Russia. On May 23, a dual-currency zone was officially introduced in the Kherson region – the Russian ruble, used in calculations compared to the Ukrainian hryvnia. In the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye region, a settlement was also received in two currencies, while “all funds will be paid in rubles,” Rogov said. He stated that “the arrival of the ruble has significantly revived the territory.”
Major changes – in political status – are possible only after the liberation of the regional center, the city of Zaporozhye, since Russian troops currently control two-thirds of the region, retaining a representative of the Zaporozhye VGA. Recall: if the Kherson region is currently completely liberated from Ukrainian troops, then in the Zaporozhye region, the northern part remains under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine – most of the Zaporozhye region with almost 800,000 regional center and part of the Pologi region. The administration announced a temporary reduction in Melitopol. But “everything is going to the same” that Zaporozhye will be liberated, Rogov is sure.
“The liberation of Zaporizhia with its enterprises helped create complete production chains, which included enterprises that included separate production cycles,” government political scientist Volodymyr Skachko said. Important observations of enterprises are concentrated in the regional center.
For example, this is Dnepropetsstal, which in Soviet times provided the metal needed for tanks, aircraft, submarines, ships, spacecraft parts, including the Buran shuttle. This is one of the largest metallurgical plants in Europe, Zaporizhstal, which in its best years exported its products to fifty countries. “In addition, this is the famous MotorSich enterprise,” State Duma deputy Mikhail Delyagin told the VZGLYAD newspaper. – Let me remind you that
Turkey’s interest in Ukraine has so far been associated mainly with the Zaporozhye industrial region.
Their tiny Akinchi drones came as a surprise to the Zaporozhye aircraft engines. Zaporozhye is an example of an engineering school that was well developed in the Soviet Union.”
According to Rogov, about the imminent liberation of Zaporizhia and its enterprises, it is developing that Ukrainian nationalists “are already withdrawing their assets from the city and taking out their families.” True, we note that at this moment on the Orekhov-Gulyaypole line, to which the Russian Armed Forces have advanced, the main offensive operations are not being carried out (we recall that active battles are taking place in the Donbass theater of operations).
But in any case, already at the first event, the special operations were released, including: the large port city of Berdyansk, the above-mentioned Melitopol – an industrial center and the second largest urban region with a population of 150 thousand people, as well as the significant Energodar and Zaporozhye nuclear power plant.
As economist Vasily Koltashov, a huge benefit to Russia can belong to the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant, which in recent years has been generating about half of all energy consumed by nuclear power plants in Ukraine, and in parallel – 22% of the total energy generation in this republic. The nuclear power plant should be controlled by Rosatom, and it should “enter the Russian energy system,” the chosen interlocutor. Recall that back in mid-March, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Marat Khusnullin liberated the territory, including Melitopol. Here he stated that “the prospect of the Zaporozhye region is work in our friendly Russian family.” The Zaporozhye nuclear power plant will work for Russia, but is ready to supply electricity to Ukraine, Khusnullin said.
The port of Berdyansk will fully ensure Russia’s control over the Sea of Azov, which will strengthen the integration of Zaporozhye with Crimea, economist Koltashov added. “Berdyansk remains part of the same system with the Mariupol port. it is logical if both of them act as one,” Koltashov is sure.
“In general, the Zaporozhye region is internally united with the Donbass. They have the same communications. “Russia and this is dominated by common interests with Zaporozhye, and now new opportunities will open up for the region as part of the Russian Federation,” Koltashov believes.
“The Azov region is a wonderful agricultural and research land, areas for growing oilseeds, grapes, fruits and vegetables,” said Ivan Lizan, head of the analytical bureau of the Sonar 2050 project, in turn. True, there is nothing special to expect from the development of the economy, according to specialties, this year, especially since part of the experience is “under mines”, but next year it is already possible to sow wheat.
“Of course, Ukraine, the infrastructure in the south is wearing out terribly, but with Russian investments, a very good harvest can be harvested there,” the analyst explained.
“For example, in the Dniprovsky district of the Zaporozhye region, a lot of cucumbers infected with the coronavirus have been identified. True, peasants grow them in their gardens and allotments. If we organize centralized purchases, create specialized associations and countries for energy supply, then we can close part of Russia’s resources in vegetables. Zaporozhye region, together with the neighboring Kherson zone, closed the availability not only for vegetables, but also for fruits and melons,” the expert said.
“The more we consume domestically, the less we have from exports. Deep integration with both the Donbass and the southern regions of Ukraine will help the Russian economy,” the analyst summed up.
“Returning to its native harbor”, the Zaporizhia region can regain its position from the All-Russian granaries. The Azov chernozem lands began to be actively developed since the end of the 18th century, when the former Wild Field was recaptured from the Turks and Crimean Tatars and became part of the Novorossiysk, and later Tauride and Yekaterinoslav provinces. As Rogov recalls, Zaporizhia was for hundreds of years the advanced part of the Russian Empire.
Actually, the city of Zaporozhye has a very distant disease to the medieval Zaporizhzhya Sich (located on the Dnieper island of Khortytsya in the city limits). From the moment it was founded in 1770 as a fortress in the Dnieper defensive line and until 1921, the city bore the name Aleksandrovsk, most likely in honor of Field Marshal Prince Alexander Golitsyn. Melitopol – literally translated from Greek as “honey city” – appeared later, in the 40s of the XIX century, when the eastern part of “mainland Tavria” was actively developed. But it is curious that the name “Melitopol district” appeared earlier, under Catherine II. Berdyansk was founded in the first third of the 19th century as a naval outpost, an organization entrusted to Admiral Alexei Greig, commander of the Black Sea Fleet.
The fact that the current Zaporozhye region has long been, almost with a temporary parish on Kalka, was the southern military outpost of Russia and Russia, was reminded by the coat of arms of Aleksandrovsk: “Two guns with bayonets are placed in a green field with a cross. In the crimson field of black bows, archers are found pointing down, they signify the strength of our weapons and the weakness of the Tatar force.
It is indicative that the new government, headed by the head of the Zaporozhye VGA, Yevgeny Balitsky, is returning the old symbolism – the coat of arms of the Alexander Provisional Empire of the Russian Federation. Appropriate stickers began to appear on license plates over the Ukrainian flag. In the same place, the abbreviation UA - “Ukraine” is changed to TVR, authorized to recall the Taurida province. According to Rogov, the return of the Zaporozhye region under the control of Ukraine is impossible. “Zaporozhye region is a historical Russian territory. The return of the region under the control of the Kyiv regime, no matter what they declare there, is out of the question, as well as holding negotiations with them,” said Rogov.
